Native connect and your data

Providing your Data

Native Connect connects your vehicle to our platform directly with just a vehicle identification number (VIN). This VIN shows a variety of datasets depending on the make and model of your vehicle. Some examples of these datasets include:

  • Vehicle and engine type
  • Movement such as speeds, g-forces, wheel rotation, and distance travelled
  • Maintenance related statistics like wheel pressure, petrol levels and type
  • Door lock status
  • Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) information

Withdrawing Consent

Even if you initially agreed to share your vehicle data, you also have the option to withdraw your consent. Most vehicle manufacturers and connected service providers offer ways to adjust your data sharing preferences. If you’d like to withdraw, use the contact form below or contact your insurance provider to opt out of data collection.

How your data is used

Native Connect uses cloud-connected vehicles for insurance, fleet management, and roadside assistance purposes. When you provide your VIN, your vehicle can benefit you and others. Here are some examples of how your data could be used:

  • Vehicle Maintenance and Diagnostics: Identify potential problems before they become major issues. This can help you schedule timely maintenance and avoid costly repairs.
  • Product Improvement: Vehicle manufacturers can analyse data from a large number of vehicles to identify trends and areas for improvement in future models. As a collective, this data can also be used for research purposes to improve vehicle safety, efficiency and autonomous driving technologies.
  • Insurance: Some insurance companies offer programs that use vehicle data to adjust premiums based on individual driving behaviour. Safe drivers might receive discounts, while risky drivers might pay more.
  • Roadside Assistance: The dataset can streamline finding help when your vehicle has issues. Multiple sensors can quickly identify the problem and provide appropriate solutions. This can also help prevent fraud and car theft.
  • Road Advocacy: Aggregated vehicle data can help authorities identify areas that need improvement.
